Scott Highsmith is an artist that draws upon a seemingly endless well of inspiration, molding a chunk of raw clay into a fired, glass-like work of art. He’s a warm man in possession of a ginormous, loving heart and the kind patient soul of an old world artist. His gentle, patient nature and true southern charm is a nod to the past, evoking memories of Atticus Finch in “To Kill A Mockingbird”. It’s no wonder he saw his true love in the eyes of Erin Richey. Her eyes mirror the brilliant joy and goodness of her soul. A spirit not contained within but allowed to explode out, surrounding herself with a brilliant aura that reflects inner joy onto her outer beauty.

This couple welcomed me into their new life as they begin a journey together that will last a lifetime. They were married at the First Presbyterian Church – Dunham Chapel in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The reception followed in the outdoor courtyard. A beautiful church to shoot in and I am honored they chose me as their photographer! I have had the best time shooting with this couple. Thanks for making me a part of it and taking me along for the ride!

I had the special privilege of capturing the lifetime wedding memories of Billy and Morgan Henry. The day was filled with incredible joy and laughter. They are a fantastic couple that celebrated their love for each other in simple church ceremony. With a small army of family and friends on-hand, Billy and Morgan’s loved lit up the church and their light followed them the the wedding reception at Next Level Events in Little Rock, AR. This group knew how to have a good time and the D.J. at Next Level kept the party hopping! I’ll let the amazing photos tell their lovely story.

Despite temps hovering around 1 million degrees! – We forged ahead (although cutting short the outdoor session) and we got some really great pics that really show the love these two have for each other. Mitchell’s high school senior pictures were shot at several locations around my North Little Rock Studio. North Little Rock senior pictures shoot with Mitchell was a great time and he is a very nice and quiet young man… he was also a great model with a low-key sort of style. We were excited to shoot another North Little Rock West High School senior! They are always fun shoots because they are great to work with and their senior photos have always been easy to shoot. Mitchell was no exception and was up for anything! Even when I suggested we shoot in a junkyard! I also have to give a shout out to Mitchell’s Mom, Shana- who is one of the NICEST women I have ever met and someone that is a blast to be around!

Yesterday morning I was blessed to have a play date at my North Little Rock Studio with a brand new charmer, JoJo. JoJo is just 5 months old and has that unique ability to steal your heart! JoJo’s Mom took a quick lunch from the Little Rock Air Force Base and we played around the studio for a quick 30 minuets to complete her session. Just long enough to get her vibrant personality captured on camera but short enough to prevent the inevitable diva meltdown! She is definitely going to be one spirited and very charming little girl. Mom was so very patient with her last session that I thought I would give her a little extra preview this time. Here are several images to get excited about Mom. This first image really tells the story of how much Mommy loves her baby girl! Enjoy!

Billy and Morgan recently stopped by my Mike Russell Photography Studio in downtown North Little Rock for their engagement session. Horrible weather outside put a damper on the outside shoot but we were able to have some fun in the studio! This weekend, we were able to reschedule and this time, Conway, AR was our backdrop for this incredible shoot! Billy and Morgan are getting married in September and now have an awesome collection of images to get them excited! They are in as much love and enjoy each other as much as it looks in the photos! Clinton Presidential Library Reception Photos

A long, long time ago, in a web domain far, far away, I created what I thought was a really cool website with a blog (sort of). Looking back, it may not have been my best effort! But that’s all behind us now. Out with the old and in with the new! We are so proud of our new website and blog posting service. This is our first post with our new website and I’m including a fantastic wedding from one of our favorite couples. We are so excited to be sharing this with you! First the website…

A little while ago, we started talking about dumping the name “Photo-Prose Studio” and streamlining the business to “Mike Russell Photography” along with building a custom site (www.mikerussellphotography.com). It’s something we’ve wanted for a long time, but I was a bit apprehensive. The old sites worked well and I had spent so much time building brand recognition. Once the decision was made to scrap Photo-Prose, we started working with the new site, it was clear we were able to make our site do whatever our wacky brains could come up with. I was finally able to take a picture right out of my thoughts, design it however I wanted, and present it right on the web. I’m completely blown away by not only how much we love the final outcome, but the new blog puts it over the top! Hope you dig the new site as much as we do! If you want to see old posts from the old site… tough! I’ve moved on! (Not really, if you have a collection of images you want to see, just email me and I’ll send you a link). We also now have a portrait portfolio online with Pictage (finally) and a few other new looks. Have a look around, stay a while! Now, we couldn’t have a better wedding to share on our first post back than Shane and Ashley. Fantastic wedding ceremony at the First Baptist Church in Sherwood, Arkansas. The reception was an all-out affair held at the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library. The Clinton Presidential Library is a fantastic place to hold a reception with incredible views of Little Rock, tons of room for huge parties and an aura of elegance that is unmatched in Little Rock. This wedding was everything we hope for: Fantastic families, Portraits before the ceremony, Tons of emotion and a very affectionate couple. What a great day! Thanks for everything you guys! Enjoy…
